Annual Report -2018
Hon’ble Chief Guest Mr. D.K. Rathore, distinguish guests , parents, On behalf of school management, staff and students of Blossoms Sr. Sec. School, Patiala, I welcome you all to our 37th Annual Sports Day Meet. Blossoms School Patiala established in 1981 started as a nursery school with 5 children and has been upgraded to the level of Senior Secondary in the year 2005.
I welcome our Chief guest Mr. D.K. Rathore who is presently posted as Chief Coach and Academic in-charge at NIS Patiala. In 2011, Mr. D.K. Rathore was awarded “Dronacharya Award” by President of India Mrs. Pratibha Patil. He is the only “Dronacharya Awardee” in the field of Gymnastics. He has conducted National Coaching camp at Indoor Stadium, New Delhi for the preparation of Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and World Championship in 2014. Both his children are also National level Gymnasts.
I would like to start the school report with a quote from Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education”.
The result for the CBSE 10th Board Results for the Academic year 2017-18 were excellent with a record of 100% pass percentage. Amita Verma secured 1st position by getting 94.4% followed by Deepanshi Garg with 93.3% and Jaismeen Kaur with 89.2%.
Overall Board Result of class XII was 92%
-Tanveer Singh Bal brought laurels by securing 95.2% marks in Non-Medical stream and is also the topper of all 4 streams. He has got admission in IIT Delhi. Second and
third position was secured by Arshdeep Singh with 89.8% and Rudraksh Sharma 87.2% respectively.
In Medical Stream - Gunjan has secured 1st position by getting 90.6% and Gautmi has secured 2nd position by getting 85.8%.
In commerce stream - Arush Bansal has got first position by securing 89.4% followed by Poonam with 87.4% and Sumanveer Kaur with 84%
Preeti Kaur secured 1st position in Humanities stream with 83% followed by Amanjit Kaur with 80.4%.
Manav Sehgal and Arshdeep Kaur has been awarded merit certificate by the CBSE by securing 100/100 marks in the subject Painting in the XII Board Exams.
We feel proud to announce that our old students Shivin Goyal, Surbhi Garg and Aman Singla cleared the UPSC exams and got selected for Indian Revenue Services.
Inderpreet Singh Sarao, A National Shooter got selected for Haryana Civil Services.
Always looking ahead, we are exploring ways of introducing part of our curriculum in a digital form. This will help our students to educate themselves with the educational programmes available through this medium and allow them to use them independently.
Before I conclude my speech, I must mention that it is our earnest prayer and hope that our students in future life shall show exemplary courage and not shirk their responsibility and duty. The words of Plato come to my mind in this reference “Do not train children to learning by force and harshness, but direct them to it by what amuses their minds , so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each. “
ACTIVITIES OF SCHOOL
In the Junior Section, Nursery activities began with Parents Interaction. To familiarize the students about Indian Culture - Festivals like Basant Panchmi, Janamashtami, Teej, Independence day and Diwali were celebrated.
Short trips and picnics were arranged for the tiny tots to Verka plant, Baradari Gardens, Dhillon Amusement Park.
Students visited Post office and Railway Station to get practical approach to their studies.
Cross Country race was organised at Baradari Gardens for the primary wing.
Grand Parents Day was celebrated by the primary section to honour their Grand Parents.
Many activities were organised with the involvement of parents like Mother’s talent on Mother’s Day, Best out of Waste, Janamashtmi and Lunch Brunch Activity .
Students participated and won prizes in Model United Nations held at the Lawrence School Sanawar. Simranjeet Kaur of class X was awarded in Special Mention Category prize .
Earth Day Carnival was organised by the Pariyavaran Society of Thapar University , Patiala in which Abhinav Dutt of class XII Non medical won first prize in group discussion and Harmanbir Singh of class X got prize in singing.
To enhance the learning through experiences students were taken for different trips and excursions which included Pepsico Factory Channo, Bird Watching at Sukhna Lake Chandigarh, Chowkidhani, Panchkula and Pinjore Garden .
150 students from class IV onwards participated in 5 km marathon with the theme “Run for Mother Nature” organised in collaboration with Blossoms School Alumni Association in which Sumit Mattu was declared the winner of the race.
Brig. Manmohan Singh Memorial Inter-School Debate sponsored by Mr. B.M. Singh, IRS, Former Chairman CBDT and co-sponsored by Dr. K.S.Chawla is held annually in our school. 30 participants from 15 different schools of Patiala, Nabha, Sangrur, Ambala Cantt. Rajpura participated in the debate. Simranjeet Kaur of our school won second prize in the debate.
Every year our students are attending Khushwant Singh Literary fest held at Kasauli. Simran of class X won first cash prize of Rs. 4000 and Sanjana won consolation prize in Art competition this year.
Besides academics our students are also excelling in sports - Jasdeep Singh is declared the best gymnast in under 19 category in Patiala by winning 6 gold and 1 silver medal .
Gurnoor Kaur of class VII bagged gold medal at District level Taekwondo.
Jesica of class VII got silver medal at North India level in Taekwondo.
Karan Verma of class X brought laurels by winning gold medal in Cricket at District level.
In Basket ball district level competition Tarandeep Singh of class X got 2nd position
5 pb boys battalion attended 10 days camp and participated in competitions at Ropar . In Essay writing competition NCC Cadet Ashok of class X won first prize. In Group Poster making competition Himal, Gurpartap , Karan Kaushal and Ashok won second prize .
Tree plantation day was celebrated by NCC battalion boys and girls in and surrounding areas of the school. They planted saplings at various places in Century Enclave.
As a part of social service they visited Deaf and Blind school.
In Rifle shooting competition held at Malout NCC 4Pb Girls Battalion cadets Simran and Khushpreet Kaur brought laurels to school by winning gold medal.
An orientation programme for the parents of class XI and XII was conducted to familiarize the parents as “Partners in progress” with the latest CBSE Curriculum.
The school management arranged lunch and two days trip to Golden Temple and Wagah Border for the teachers on the occasion of Teachers day.
Teachers of our school remain updated by regularly attending workshops organised by CBSE for different subjects.
